Cory Carpenter was a speed skater mostly known as a sprinter. He competed at the World Junior Championships All-Around in 1994, 1995, and 1996, finishing eighth in 1996. In 1997 Carpenter skated the World Single Distance Championships and the World Sprints, with a best finish of 14th in 500 metres at the single-distance event. Carpenter’s younger brother, Kip, was also a speed skater who competed at the 2002 and 2006 Winter Games.
Cory Carpenter graduated from Carroll College, graduating in 2002. After college he began working with C. R. England, a trucking company based out of Salt Lake City, as a leasing manager. He then moved to ATBS, another trucking concern, before joining Caterpillar Global Mining in demand and contract management. In 2012 Carpenter became regional sales manager for Liebherr Mining Equipment in Arizona.
