Biography

Barrett Christy was a pioneering American snowboarder who competed in halfpipe at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. Christy won the halfpipe and big air at the 1997 US Open, and at the 1997 Winter X Games won big air and slopestyle. In 1999 she won the halfpipe at the Winter X Games and was second in slopestyle, also winning big air skateboarding at the Summer X Games that year. In both 1999 and 2000 she was voted best overall female snowboarder in the Transworld Riders Poll Awards. In 2001 she was named female snowboarder of the year in the ESPN Action Sports and Music Awards.

Christy was later featured in several snowboarding films, notably “Our Turn” (2001), “Hardly Angels” (2002), and “Float” (2007). She later worked on product design marketing for Gnu Snowboards, for which the Gnu Barrett Christy Pro Model B-Pro is the longest running and best selling women’s pro model snowboard.
