Jochen Schneider was a member of the flatwater K4-1,000 meters team at the 1968 Mexico Olympics that was eliminated in the semi-final. In 1970 and 1971 he helped KG Stuttgart win the West German national title in the K4-1,000 meters, and in 1960 the 4 x 500 metres relay title.
His greatest moments came in 1967 and 1970, when he won the K1-10,000 meters national titles, and in 1971 and 1972 he added the K4-10,000 titles. Schneider was a member of the silver medal-winning squad at the 1970 World Championships in the K4-10,000, and in 1971 won a bronze medal in the K1-10,000.
