Description

The city of Agrigento is situated on the southern coast of Sicily in modern Italy, and was in Greek times known as Akragas. One of its rulers, Theron earned a medal in the tethrippon in 476 BCE. In 496 BCE, father Empedokles and son Exainetos both earned a title at the same Games, the former in horse racing, and the latter in wrestling. Another athlete named Exainetos won two stadion crowns, but it is unknonw if he is related to the father and son competing 80 years earlier.
