Antigua and Barbuda (ANT)

Antigua and Barbuda formed a National Olympic Committee (NOC) in 1965, with the objective of participating in the 1966 British Commonwealth Games that year. After being refused recognition in 1975, because its statutes did not conform to International Olympic Committee (IOC) requirements, provisional recognition was granted in 1976, at the IOC Session in Innsbruck. Full recognition followed on 19 July of the same year, at the IOC Session in Montréal, and Antigua and Barbuda competed at the 1976 Olympic Games. It has participated at all subsequent Olympic Games, except for 1980, but has not yet competed at the Olympic Winter Games.

Antigua and Barbuda has not yet won a medal at the Olympics, the top performances by one of its athletes likely coming in 2008 and 2012, when Brendan Christian made it to the semi-finals of the 200 metres in athletics in both editions. At London 2012, Daniel Bailey also made it to the semi-finals, but of the 100 metres. Bailey again reached the 100 metre semi-finals in 2016, this time accompanied by compatriot Cejhae Greene.
