At the 1968 Mexico City Olympics the dressage and jumping events were contested at the Campo Marte, an equestrian venue located next to the National Auditorium in Chapultepec Park in Mexico City. Team and individual events were contested over two days. The first determined the team placements, with the top eight riders and horses advancing to an individual final on the second day. As in 1964 all equestrian events in Mexico City were open to men and women, and that would be standard at all future Olympic Games. Ivan Kizimov of the Soviet Union won the individual dressage, while the team event went to West Germany (Federal Republic of Germany).
