The 2008 badminton events were held in Beijing, and showcased Asian dominance in the sport. All of the medals were won by Asian players, all from only four nations – China, Indonesia, Korea, and Malaysia. This was the first time that all the badminton medals had been won exclusively by Asian players, though they had always dominated the sport at the Olympics. One difference in 2008 was that all games were played to 21, with rally scoring.
