Luge at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held between 5 and 10 February 2022 at the Xiaohaituo Bobsleigh and Luge Track, which was part of the Yanqing cluster of venues. A total of 110 athletes from 26 nations qualified to participate with Ireland taking part for the first time. As in past Olympics, there were four events, with men’s and women’s singles, a doubles event, and a mixed team relay.
Germany won all four luge events at Beijing 2022, something that has been achieved four times before, and all were by German teams. The German Democratic Republic did so in 1976 and 1988, and Germany in 1998 and 2014. Only the 2014 Germany sweep was over four events as opposed to three in the other years, as the mixed team relay was added to that year’s Olympic programme.
