Very little is known about the combatants in this class. The gold medal went to Swiss wrestler Fritz Hagemann in his only known international appearance. He won four matches, three by decision and one by fall, defeating Belgium’s Pierre Ollivier for the gold. Ollivier went thru the second-place Bergvall tournament to win the silver medal, defeating Finland’s Jussi Penttilä in the final match for the silver medal. In the third-place tournament Penttilä faced his teammate, Vilho Pekkala, for the bronze medal, with Pekkala prevailing. Pekkala had competed at the 1921 World Championships and would compete at the 1928 Olympics, but never made another international podium. Like Hagemann and Ollivier, Penttilä never again competed on the international level.
