The six players who competed were not among the world’s best. The records of the Greek players is not known, although they played relatively hard fought matches amongst themselves. The one non-Greek player, France’s Marie Decugis, had won three French titles during her career - the ladies’ doubles in 1908 (with Mme. K. Fenwick) and the covered court mixed doubles with her husband in 1910-1911.

The two top female players in the world in this era were Britain’s Dorothea Douglass, later Mrs. Lambert Chambers, who was Wimbledon singles champion seven times - 1903-04, 1906, 1910-11, and 1913-14; and America’s May Sutton, born in Britain, who won Wimbledon in 1905 and 1907 and the United States title in 1904.
