Esme Simiriotis was the gold medalist in the women’s singles at the 1906 Athina Olympics. She also played mixed doubles, partnered by Nikolaos Zarifis. Her brother, Georgios Simiriotis, also competed at the 1906 Olympics in tennis. Their mother was descended from the wealthy Greek banking family of Georgios Zarifis, so both Georgios and Esme were certainly related to Nikolaos Zarifis.
