There were 16 different automobile contests at the 1900 Paris Exposition. This event was for heavier four-seated touring cars. It took place over five days with 150 km and 34.35 km on the track at Lac Daumesnil each day. The names of the prize winners were often the names of the car manufacturer for the automobile reliability contests. The Société des Automobiles Delahaye had been founded by Émile Delahaye (*1843-†1905) from Tours, but Delahaye left his own company in 1900 and retired. The automobile sector of the De Dietrich company was founded by Adrien, Baron de Turckheim, a competitor in the Paris-Toulouse-Paris race in 1900 and a nephew of one of the De Dietrichs. In 1905, the automobile sector became independent under the name of Lorraine-Dietrich.
