There were 16 different automobile contests at the 1900 Paris Exposition. This event, for light trucks with a minimum carrying capacity of 100 kg, took place over five days, from 17-22 September save the 20th, with 150 km covered each day and 34.35 km on the track at Lac Daumesnil each day. The names of the prize winners were often the names of the car manufacturer for the automobile reliability contests. De Dion-Bouton was founded in 1882 in Puteaux by Comte Albert De Dion – winner of the 1894 Paris-Rouen contest – and Georges Bouton. After building motorized tricycles, the company switched to automobiles.
