Charles Butler was a figure skater who competed in ice dance at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, alongside Jessica Joseph. Butler and Joseph were the 1998 World Junior Champions and runner-up that year at the US Championships. They had won the US Junior Championships in 1996 and 1997, and won the 1995 US Olympic Festival.
Butler stopped skating competitively after the Nagano Olympics and eventually attended NYU Medical School. He did his residency in internal medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and became board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Butler also became an entrepreneur who started several companies, including Charles Collection LLC, a jewelry company selling high-end products; Ultimate Skate LLC, and ice skate blade company; and VideoMedicine, Inc., a telemedicine software company.
