Erin Gleason competed in short-track speed skating at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. She suffered from myasthenia gravis in 1995, a muscle-weakening disease, but overcame this and was a three-time participant at the World Championships. Gleason won two bronze medals at the 1996 Worlds.
Gleason started in college at Northern Michigan University, but later graduated from Georgetown. She then studied oenology at Universita` degli Studi di Genova in Italy, and eventually became a wine sommelier at M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas.
