Wendy Wagner was a cross-country skier who competed at the 2002 and 2006 Olympic Winter Games. She competed at the World Championships in 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2005. She skied on the World Cup circuit from 1999-2006 and was best in the sprint events. In her career Wagner won six US championships. She served as a coach at the University of Utah XC ski team 2006-2008.
Wagner obtained a master’s degree in atmospheric science from University of Utah which led to a career in avalanche forecasting for the United States Forest Service. She was the Director of the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center from 2010-25 and was employed by the US Forest Service as an air resource meteorologist deployed to wildfires.
