German short tracker André Hartwig participated in the 2002 Salt Lake City and the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics. He won the relay gold medal at the 2005 European Championships as his best international result. He also won three relay bronze medals in 2002, 2004, and 2006. Nationally, Hartwig won the 500- and 1,000 metres titles in 2001.
