Curt Bader paddled kayak fours at the 1988 and 1996 Olympics. He got interested in canoe racing as an Explorer Scout. In addition to his Olympic experience, Bader won four medals at the Pan American Games, all in kayak fours, including a gold in 1987, with silvers in 1991 K-4 1,000 and 1995 K-4 500, and a bronze in K-4 500 metres. Bader attended Iowa State University, graduating with a degree in forestry.
