Biography

Karen McIntosh competed in dressage for the United States at the 1964 Olympics. She also competed at the 1959 Pan American Games, winning a silver medal in team dressage. She also competed internationally for two years in Europe.

The granddaughter of George Huntington Hartford, who founded the A&P Food Stores, McIntosh grew up in Westchester County, New York and learned riding on German-bred horses at her family’s Sunnyfield Farm in Bedford Village, New York. She graduated from the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York in 1957 and Briarcliff Junior College in 1959. She later married Ralph Collins.
