Jessica Newberry-Ransehousen competed for the US in dressage in three Olympics, in 1960, 1964, and 1988, an unusual record. The 24 years (1964-88) is the largest gap between any two appearances by a woman at the Olympics. As Jessica Newberry she also won a team dressage silver medal at the 1959 Pan American Games. In addition to her competitive record Newberry Ransehousen had a long career in equestrian administration. She served as chef d’equipe for the U.S. dressage team at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympic Games, at the 1990 and 1994 World Equestrian Games, and at the 1991 and 1995 Pan American Games. She has been US representative to the FEI World Cup Committee, served three terms as chair of the AHSA Dressage Committee, and was elected assistant secretary of the AHSA in 1997. Ransehousen has also chaired the US Equestrian Team (USET) Dressage Committee, and been the USET vice-president for dressage. She also trained and coached numerous dressage riders. Newberry-Ransehousen is a member of the US Dressage Federation Hall of Fame.
