Biography

Ernesto Sciommeri was an Italian sports executive who until 2002 worked for CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) for 46 years as director of external relations, serving many presidents such as Giulio Onesti, Franco Carraro, and Mario Pescante. In December 2002 the President of the Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi awarded him with the highest Italian honor as Knight of the Grand Cross for the merit of the Republic. He was also a member of the Italian National Olympic Academy and a publicist journalist.
