Kazimierz Gorski played as a forward for several Polish football teams: RKS Lwów, Spartak Lviv, FC Dynamo Lviv, Legia Warsaw. His successful career was interrupted by World War II and it took until 1948 before he participated in his only international match, an 8-0 defeat by Denmark. Gorski graduated in football training from the Higher School of Physical Education in Kraków and the Physical Education Academy in Wrocław in 1980. He was the coach of Legia Warsaw (three times), Marymont Warszawa, Gwardia Warszawa, Lublinianka Lublin, and ŁKS Łódź.
Gorski also coached the Polish national youth team from 1956-66 and the Polish U-23 team from 1966-70, and finally became the country’s first team coach from 1970-76. The highlights of Gorski’s career were the gold medal in the 1972 München Olympics, the third place in the 1974 World Cup in Germany, and the silver medal at the 1976 Montréal Olympics.
In total, Górski was coach of the Poland national team for 73 matches with 45 wins. After resigning his position, he went to Greece and was a successful coach with Panathinaikos Athens, Kastoria FC, Olympiakos Piraeus, and Ethnikos. When he retired from coaching in 1986, Gorski worked actively with the PZPN (Polish Football Union). He was a vice-president from 1987, and from 1991-95 was its President.
