West German road cyclist Ernst Christl was a member of the 100 km time trial team that finished sixth at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. That same year, he won the national title with his home club RSG Hercules Nürnberg. Christl also participated in the International Peace Races in 1988 and 1989.
