Matthew Hamon was primarily a track cyclist who was on the US national team from 1990-95. Hamon usually raced team pursuit, and won six consecutive US titles (1991-96) in that event. He won a silver medal in team pursuit at the 1994 World Championships and added a bronze medal in the event at the 1995 Worlds. Hamon also won a silver medal in team pursuit at the 1991 Pan American Games.
Hamon attended Humboldt State University but he later obtained a masters’ in fine arts from the University of Washington. He became a college professor of art, teaching at the University of Washington, Prescott College, Montana Tech, Evergreen State College, and the University of Montana.
