Vladislav Nelyubin competed for the Soviet Union at the 1968 Olympics in the road race, but did not finish. In 1967 he had ridden at the World Championships in the team time trial, helping the USSR to a fifth-place finish. Nelyubin later rode the Peace Race four times, placing second in 1972, with a fifth in 1971 and sixth in 1973. In 1971 he won the Circuit de la Sarthe-Pays de la Loire race. Nelyubin also rode the Tour of Austria in 1973, finishing second but winning the points classification. His son, Dmitry, raced for the Soviets at the 1988 Olympics and later rode as a professional cyclist. Dmitry was later killed tragically and, in his memory, Vladislav Nelyubin organizes the annual Dmitry Nelyubin Memorial Race in St. Petersburg.
