Don Sheldon was in the US Air Force at the time of the 1952 Olympics. In Helsinki, he raced on both the track, in the team pursuit, and the roads. Sheldon was from Jersey City, New Jersey. He won the Tour of Somerville in 1947-48, one of the major one-day road races in the United States, in the first two years it was held after World War II.
