For many years George Cattanach was a star player with the Shamrock Lacrosse Club of Montreal, winning numerous national tournaments with the club, and he later suited up with the Shamrock Lacrosse Club of Winnipeg. In 1904 he moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and signed with the local lacrosse team, but represented his Winnipeg club once more at that year’s Summer Olympics, where he helped win a gold medal for Canada. Cattanach was also involved in track and field athletics, and had a personal best time of 10.5 seconds in the 100 yards. He spent the rest of his life in the United States.
