Biography

Johann Koller was on the Austrian field hockey squad at the 1948 London Olympics. The team failed to advance from the group stage to the final round. They lost 8-0 to India and drew 1-1 with Spain and Argentina. Koller was a forward and represented SV Arminen Wien (Vienna) domestically.

Koller returned to the 1952 Olympics at Helsinki, when the team reached the quarter-finals before losing their match 4-0 to India. After Koller’s death, a Vienna hockey stadium, near the Prater, was named after him.
