Alfred Annan played in the 1904 Olympic golf tournament, shooting 102-100 in the qualifying and not advancing to match play. Annan played out of the Algonquin Country Club in St. Louis. He worked in construction and architecture. Annan studied at Smith Academy and the Manual Training School of Washington University, and then studied architecture with T. B. Annan & Sons from 1884-91. He later worked with Koken Iron Works from 1891-92, then was with Columbian Fireproofing in Pittsburgh from 1893-94. Annan returned to Missouri as superintendent of the same company in St. Louis from 1894-86. He worked with the American Bridge Company from 1896-98, and then was an architect on his own from 1898-1901, before becoming resident manager of the Roebling Architectural League of St. Louis. Annan later committed suicide.
