Khalil El-Maghrabi

Alexandrian boxer Khalil El-Maghrabi did not have an extensive international boxing career, and he reached his peak when he represented Egypt in the featherweight division at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where he was eliminated in round one by upcoming bronze medalist Josef Miner of Germany. He became much better known for his refereeing career, however, and after World War II was among the first native Egyptian international boxing referees. He served as a judge and referee for numerous bouts at the 1952 and 1964 Summer Olympics and was also a member of the International Boxing Referees Association. Domestically, he was the General Secretary of the Alexandria Boxing Association and, by career, worked in the Alexandria Department of Public Transportation.
