William Seiling was a member of the #1 team from the St. Louis Southwest Tumverein that won the silver medals in the 1904 tug-of-war event. He was well known as a local strongman and from 1895 to 1905 he was undefeated in local beer barrell lifting contests. He later opened a successful furniture store in St. Louis. Henry Seiling competed for the Milwaukee AC in the 1904 tug-of-war, but there does not appear to be any relationship.
