Fayek ‘Adly ‘Azb began his boxing career as a light-flyweight and won a gold medal in that event at the 1979 Mediterranean Games, adding a silver one at the 1983 edition, behind Algeria’s Brahim Brahimi. The following year, he moved up to the flyweight division and represented Egypt at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, where he was defeated by Heo Yeong-Mo of Korea. He also had notable results at the World Military Boxing Championships, including gold in 1978 as a light-flyweight and bronze in 1982 as flyweight. He continued to compete into the late-1980s and later worked as a boxing coach.
