Biography

Carlos del Coso was one of Spain’s premier field hockey players during the 1960s and appeared in three consecutive editions of the Olympics, 1960-1968, placing third, fourth, and sixth respectively. During that time, he also won a silver medal at the 1963 Mediterranean Games. Domestically, he was a five-time indoor hockey national champion (1958, 1963-1966) and also won a field hockey title in 1966. Following his retirement from active competition, he worked in the administration of the sport and was a selector for the national team from 1972 through 1977. In 2020, a hockey field in Carabanchel, Madrid was named in his honour.
