Hanns-Henning Fastrich was a member of the West German field hockey team that won the silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, after losing to Great Britain 3-1 in the final. Fastrich won 69 international caps (including 10 indoor) between 1984-91. He was European Indoor Champion in 1991 and 1994, and won the Champions Trophy in 1986 and 1987. In 1987, the team also won bronze at the Europeans.
Domestically, Fastrich played with Mönchengladbacher HTC, winning the German Championships in 1981, and the indoor title in 1988. Fastrich later studied economics and worked with Volkswagen AG and Carl Kühne KG, becoming head of finance, controlling, and IT.
