Ho Koh Chye kept goal for the Malaysian hockey team at the 1964 Rome Olympics and in 1968 in Mexico where he was also team captain.
As a coach he led the Malaysia to their best international performance, 4th in the 1975 World Cup on home soil in Kuala Lumpur. He later worked for the National Sports Council in Malaysia and returned to the Olympics when he was chosen as team manager of the national hockey team in Barcelona.
Koh Chye died of prostate cancer just a few months after acting as chef-de-mission for the Malaysian Olympic team in Beijing.
