Twice an Olympain, Tariq Niazi represented Pakistan from 1961-69, also competing for the National team at the Asian Games. He played for PIA and represented that department in various national and regional championships. He later briefly served as the manager and coach of the national team. Mianwali’s municipal hockey stadium was later renamed the Tariq Niazi Hockey Stadium.
