Mary Koboldt played hockey as a midfielder for the University of Iowa from 1982-85. She was named three times to the All-Big Ten team, and was a two-time All-American. She also led Iowa to the NCAA tournament all four years she played, and led them to two Big Ten Championships. As a senior she was named All-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and was a nominee for the Honda Broderick Award, as the top collegiate female athlete in the country. Koboldt twice played for the US National team, including her 1988 Seoul Olympic appearance. She is a member of the National Iowa Varsity Club and the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame. She later coached youth leagues and worked as a sales rep for a major pharmaceutical company in St. Louis
