Oda Mahaut was born in København, Denmark in 1887 and was a member of the Salle Mahaut fencing club in the city. The club was run by the French fencing master Léonce Mahaut who she married in the early 1920s, becoming a French citizen in the process. In 1926 Mahaut became the Danish foil champion before representing France at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. At the Games she won just one of her six bouts to finish bottom of her pool.
