Laurie Harding-Smith fenced épée at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He was Australian champion with the sword in both 1952 and 1954 and competed at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. Harding-Smith later worked in fencing administration. He managed the Australian team at the 1970 Commonwealth Games and served two terms as President of the Australian Amateur Fencing Association.
