Ignacio Posada was one of Colombias top fencers in the 1960s. He earned various national titles in both the foil and sabre, while also collecting several golds in the Bolivarian Games (a multi-sport event held between the nations that gained independence due to Simón Bolivar). At the 1964 Olympics, Posada entered both foil and sabre, reaching the second round in both events. An officer with the Colombian army, Posada eventually rose to the rank of Brigadier General.
