Biography

Épéeist Teddy Bourne was a three-time Olympian from Mexico 1968 to Montréal 1976. His best result was in reaching the quarter-finals and finishing equal seventh in the team foil event with the Great Britain squad on his OIympic début.

Bourne attended Brentwood School and in 1964 reached the foil final at the the Public Schools Championships. The following year, while still at school, Bourne finished second to John Pelling in the national épée championship before capturing the title at the age of 17 in 1966. Bourne went on to win the title five more times, in 1972, 1974 and 1976-78. After leaving school, Bourne qualified as a solicitor.
