Biography

Fencer Dieter Jung lost the bout for bronze against Poland with the West German épée team at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and finished an unfortunate fourth. Four years later the team failed to reach the second round. Individually he did not reach the final round at the 1968 Olympics. In 1966, 1967 and 1970 Jung won West German individual championships as one of the most successful sportsmen from his hometown Würzburg. He was also an avid rower. By profession, Jung became a physician.
