Biography

Fencer László Berti competed in both sabre and foil at an international level. At the 1912 Summer Olympics, as a member of the Hungarian sabre team, he won an Olympic gold medal, and in 1924 won a team sabre silver, and team foil bronze. As a professional soldier, Berti served in World War I and received several high commendations. After his retirement from competitive fencing, he taught at the University of Physical Education, and was a fencing master of both the BSE (Budapest Sport Egyesület) and the Police Officer’s Club. He also served on the Hungarian Fencing Master Jury.
