Biography

Zoltán Schenker, a fencer, competed in both sabre and foil. As a military officer of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, he could not compete in Hungarian colors at the London Olympics in 1908. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, however, he was a member of the Hungarian sabre team that won the Olympic title, and Schenker finished fourth in the individual. In the 1924 Paris Games, he won silver with the Hungarian sabre team, a bronze medal with the foil team, and again finished fourth in individual sabre. At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, Schenker competed only in individual foil. He won the Hungarian individual foil title in 1922 and 1924.

After World War II, Schenker settled in Diósd and taught fencing until he was past 70. He also wrote several books: Foil (1954), Modern Hungarian Sabre Fencing (1958).
