Toni Albanese

Toni Albanese fenced team épée for Italy at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. He also competed at the 1967 World Championships in Moskva. At the Universiades, Albanese won a team épée gold in 1961 and a bronze in 1963. He won two medals in the 60+ Veterans World Championships, with a silver in 2000 and a bronze in 1998. Albanese’s career was as a lawyer.

As a youth Albanese was a tennis player, until he was injured in a bus accident, in which his leg was crushed and fractured in multiple places. Amputation was considered but Albanese was able to keep the leg. After the accident he switched to fencing as his sport.
