Along with Graeme Hammond, W. Scott O’Connor co-founded the Amateur Fencers League of America in 1891, and served as its secretary from its inception until 1925. He was the first AFLA champion in foil individual in 1892 and added the épée title in 1905. A long-time member of the New York Fencers Club, he was a member of the AFLA national championship épée team in 1908. In 1940, the AFLA dedicated the new national trophy in épée individual to W. Scott O’Connor; a twin to the cup offered in honor of Graeme Hammond for sabre individual.
A date of birth of 20 July 1883 is seen, but this is impossible given that he was a national champion in 1892.
