Biography

Jesús Gruber was a Venezuelan fencer who competed in the foil from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. Gruber won silver at the 1959 Pan American Games in the team foil with Freddy Quintero, Óscar Cabrera, and Antonio Gómez. Four years later at the 1963 Pan American Games he won bronze in the same event, this time with Augusto Gutiérrez, Nelson Nieves, and Luis Rigoberto. Gruber was part of the Venezuelan delegation at the 1960 Roma Olympics where he competed in the team and individual foil events, reaching the quarter-finals in the latter. He also won medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games with an individual gold in 1959 and a team gold in 1970.
