Ary Vidal was a Brazilian basketball coach who led them at the 1988 and 1996 Olympics. He also helped Brazil win a bronze medal at the 1978 World Championships, just missing another in 1986 when they finished fourth. At the Pan American Games, Vidal coached Brazil to gold in 1987 and bronze medals in 1979 and 1985. He led them to gold medals in 1977 and 1985 at the South American Championships, adding a silver medal in 1979 and bronze medals in 1987 and 1995. At the club level Vidal coached Corinthians of Santa Cruz do Sul, helping them win the men’s national title in 1994.
Vidal had started his career leading the Brazilian women. Under his tutelage they placed eighth at the 1967 World Championships and won the 1965 South American title.
