Edward Dierkes played halfback for St. Rose in the 1904 Olympic soccer tournament. Dierkes worked as a clerk at a dry goods store in the 1900s and early 1910s and then worked for more than a decade as a conductor with the Pullman Company. In the late 1920s, Dierkes opened his own tavern in Kirkwood, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis.
