Joe “Za Za” Ferreira played for the Ponta Delgada SC in Fall River, Massachusetts, helping them win the 1946 and 1950 National Challenge Cup, the 1947 National Amateur Cup, and the 1947 American Soccer League (ASL) title. Ferreira played with them until 1957 when he signed with Fall River SC. He played for the US at the 1948 Olympics, and earned two further caps in friendlies after the Olympics against Norway and Israel.
